Yes, another poll where Nintendo will win rofl while pml and smh. SF2-four is one of the GOAT streaks in gaming and I can't recall of many streaks that are ameliorate, even when nosotros think of games outside of fighting games. Actually I can think of a better streak than SF2-4 because SFV: CE is f----- great and my personal fav Street Fighter. Both series accept depth in the buttloads; Smash is great merely for me, the diversity of inputs in games like SF keep me hooked longer than the more universal inputs of Nail.

The cyberspace is watching, Era, so let's non brand a fool of ourselves. Cull wisely! I know Smash volition probably win, but I just wanna encounter the results to see what extent the gaming sphere has shifted away from the historic rex of fighters lol.

I know Street Fighter is going to win merely for my money I'd rather play Nail Brothers any day of the calendar week over Street Fighter.

Gimme third Strike and SF2 Turbo all by themselves they win for me.

You basically cut out Street Fighter's weakest game (SFI) while keeping Nail'southward (Brawl), and so Street Fighter. Information technology also doesn't aid that Super Turbo & Third Strike are amidst the all-fourth dimension greats. Melee & Ultimate are expert and are certainly inside hitting distance, but they aren't quite there.

3 and Double Impact are shaky but Third Strike is legit my favorite, so I'm with y'all.

Super Turbo and 3rd Strike lone are stronger than all the Nail games.

Yes, Smash sold more units, but that'south because of brand recognition and ease of access.

I mean I similar Boom Ultimate a lot more, merely I as well hate the previous two games and am a massive scrub who is extremely bad at traditional fighters.

Smash Ultimate is the culmination of the series' twenty year rise to the acme, while every numbered Street Fighter is like a series unto itself. They kind of cater to different wants.

Why comparing a fighting game to a party game?
Only only of them is a fighting game...
Damn don't be so hard on Street Fighter.

I'd put SF2 over all of the Boom games, then ya Street Fighters wins handedly.

None of the listed SF games are bad. SFV is arguably the weakest for its fourth dimension, only they are all solid in their own right.

Brawl is an embarrassment and auto-loses it for Smash.

The Smash Bros. franchise takes this

SFII is the just SF I truly love.

Street Fighter. Beloved Blast merely imo this isn't a contest. All 4 of those SF games are fit for hanging at the tiptop of the fighting game mountain if not ruling it, and basically what every fighting game since has built off of in one way or another, including off-beat out ones like Smash.

I feel like I'm ultimately comparing Melee to Third Strike, and I don't know how I'g supposed to decide, haha! They're both absolute masterpieces!

Just a thing- no including Smash 64 or the Alpha games? I understand cutting the start SF though.

Not going to lie: I'g a big fan of "if information technology ain't broke don't set it," but I've finally crossed the threshold of being bored with Boom. I tin can't say that I've always been bored by a Street Fighter. I could definitely say I've been turned off of a Street Fighter though.

Street Fighter just does more with each major release. Before SF4 I could safely say I put manner more than fourth dimension into Smash. Post-SF4 I remember information technology's flipped. And I never got tired of it. I could play SF4 today and notwithstanding be super into information technology.

Street Fighter is smashing, but Smash but has one character with accuse inputs, and then it's a toss-upwards really.

The worst Street Fighter game on that list is amend than the best Blast game on that list. Not even close to an equal match between the two franchises.
BassForever
  • #23
Why would you cut out Smash 64 and SF1? That's what would make the poll a bit more interesting cause SF1 is a league below any other game from both series.

  • #24
These serial are completely different, have unlike audiences, budgets and goals to accomplish... Why carp with this comparison?

I like both so I really don't want to see people shit on these franchises, start the trite argument virtually the definition of a fighting game etc which already happened.

SF 3 is a giant failure of a game from all aspects and information technology took iv in all its chunky glory to bring the series dorsum.

My favorite Street Fighters aren't even in this poll and I'g withal voting Street Fighter.

Blast Ultimate is and then good information technology transcends fighting games though. That affair has become a celebration of all gaming at this indicate.

SF1 gets too much undue detest :(

Good chance none of these games would exist without it, and was really good at the fourth dimension.

I mean, as much as I love Melee it's gotta be SF. Almost all of the games from 2-5 take something decent going for them and you lot can still notice people playing, even for USFIV.

No ane plays Ball or Smash 4 nowadays and for good reason. Then y'all're either playing Melee or you're playing Ultimate and Ultimate'southward online is well-nigh unplayable.

Honestly, though, this poll is like asking "which is the amend racing game, Mario Kart or Forza?"

So 3rd Strike happened and it turned out to be one of the best fighting games of all time.
Poor balance, bad roster, a sales failure that a few diehards will effort and convince y'all is the all-time game ever when SF basically became a non entity for an entire generation before beingness revived by the geniuses at Dimps in the chonktacular SF IV.

SF 3 is a behemothic failure of a game from all aspects and it took four in all its chunky celebrity to bring the serial back.

What a start mail service lol damn. SF3 is amazing!
Why comparing a fighting game to a party game?

I thought Smash was a certified fighting game past now.
Y'all basically cutting out Street Fighter'southward weakest game (SFI) while keeping Smash'southward (Brawl), so Street Fighter. Information technology also doesn't help that Super Turbo & Tertiary Strike are among the all-fourth dimension greats. Melee & Ultimate are adept and are certainly within striking distance, simply they aren't quite in that location.

In that location'southward no way I'm calculation SF1 on Street Fighters side. And I always though 64 was the weakest game.
Unfair poll, 3rd Strike is included.
What is this poll even lol

Melee crush out SF3 here:
I feel similar I'm ultimately comparing Melee to 3rd Strike, and I don't know how I'm supposed to make up one's mind, haha! They're both accented masterpieces!

Simply a thing- no including Smash 64 or the Blastoff games? I understand cutting the beginning SF though.

I wasn't sure what would be the alternative to 64. It doesn't experience correct having SF1 be a counterpart to 64.

Not going to lie: I'thousand a large fan of "if it ain't broke don't fix it," but I've finally crossed the threshold of existence bored with Boom. I can't say that I've e'er been bored by a Street Fighter. I could definitely say I've been turned off of a Street Fighter though.

Street Fighter just does more with each major release. Before SF4 I could safely say I put fashion more time into Smash. Post-SF4 I call back information technology'southward flipped. And I never got tired of it. I could play SF4 today and nevertheless be super into it.

I call back Ultimate is a fantastic game in a lot of respects, but I think that'southward a proficient style of putting it. I know where I'm at at Smash at this point equally far as my skill cap and such, and I'g bored with information technology in that respect. I don't feel like I'g e'er really learning anymore when I play Boom, information technology only is what it is.

Perchance if the game's netcode wasn't dogshit and so I would have given it more effort, just as it stands at present Ultimate is but a really crawly fun competitive game to me, not a true competitive game like I feel about SFV.

As per usual, threads like this become a ton of chumps coming in to drive-by post that Smash isn't a fighting game just because it's a different KIND of fighting game.

Anyway, Street Fighter probably wins out, I'm not huge on Ball in particular.

SF1 gets as well much undue detest :(

Good chance none of these games would exist without it, and was actually good at the time.

Yie Ar Kung Fu, Karate Champion, Pit Fighter, there was still a path for fighting games without SF1. Hell fifty-fifty stuff like the multiplayer mode of Double Dragon i on the NES could have sparked it off.

Sure, you could have a preference, but your preference is quite literally the only feasible point of parallel comparison.

Not really. Some people this will be the instance yeah, but if yous're looking at the FG genre as a whole, there's a pretty articulate choice here. Boom Bros. might non even be without Street Fighter two. Sakurai has made information technology a betoken to accolade the serial explicitly because of this reason. And that's just one of the gajillion things it's done for the advocacy of FGs.

Melee is my favorite fighting game of all time, just Ball and 4 are pretty bad as fighting games, and Ultimate isn't too much better (though information technology at least tried).

I'yard non huge on Street Fighter merely two is an absolute classic, 3rd Strike is phenomenal, and the other two are, at a bare minimum, totally competent.

For my personal taste, Melee alone is more than interesting than all the Street Fighter games combined, but it's difficult to debate that Street Fighter isn't a stronger series.

Information technology'southward very difficult to directly compared traditional and platform fighting games though - information technology'southward like asking whether Quake or Counter-Strike are better shooters. It'south basically only a affair of personal taste more than execution.

Non really. Some people this will be the case aye, just if you're looking at the FG genre as a whole, there's a pretty clear choice here. Smash Bros. might not even exist without Street Fighter 2. Sakurai has made it a signal to honor the series for explicitly because of this reason. And that's just one of the gajillion things it's done for FGs.
But the question isn't which i is more important. The question is which one is "a stronger set of fighting games."

No i'southward going to doubtfulness that SF is the more influential serial, only I don't determine which game I similar more based on which i is well-nigh of import in FG history.

If information technology was Smash Vs. SF2 and SF4 I would give it to Smash. Simply including Third Strike and SFV? That is a pretty piece of cake determination for me. It would only exist easier if the Alpha games were also in the conversation.
SF 3 is a giant failure of a game from all aspects and it took 4 in all its chunky glory to bring the series back.

We alive in a strange, twisted reality where 1 of the best Street Fighter games nearly sunk the series and one of the worst entries essentially resurrected information technology...
